35. "The Turnabout Powers" (Superman Family #207)

You see, after DC had the Earth-2 Superman and Lois Lane get married, they then got their own feature in some of the titles as "Mr. and Mrs. Superman." That feature continued in Superman Family. In this story, by E. Nelson Bridwell, Kurt Schaffenberger and Joe Giella, Lois absorbs Superman's powers in this fanciful bit of a Freaky Friday story...

It's a cute throwback story.

34. "From the Heart" (Superman #118 )

The Superman writers originally planned on having Lois Lane and Clark Kent get married in 1992's Superman #75, but then the TV series, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was in development. It did not come out until 1993, but it was originally going to come out sooner, so DC was not allowed to have Lois and Clark get married in the comics in 1992.

Eventually, since they knew they couldn't have them get married while they were unmarried on the show, the comics just broke the couple up. Then, out of nowhere, the TV series decided that it needed to deal with some flailing ratings by having Lois and Clark get married on the show after all. So the comics had to take Lois Lane from being broken up with Clark to being married to Clark in, like, a couple of months.

So in Superman #118, Dan Jurgens, Ron Frenz and Joe Rubinstein have Lois Lane go on a spiritual journey and also a physical one, as she climbs a mountain to get answers to her life from a "man in the mountains." While on the trip, her guide tells her about a man who he had taken to the same spot in the past, a man who changed his life. Once to the top, Lois knows what she needs to do next in her life...

Yes, it was a crazy fast turnaround, but they did their best with it!

33. "Have You Ever Told Me The Story of My Life?" (Superman Family #206)

Lois Lane had recently had her memory erased and she ended up falling for a "nobody" named Ted Wallach. Now, her memories are going to be returned to her in this story by Marv Wolfman, Bob Oksner and Vince Colletta...

However, she soon fights the return of her memories, as she's not sure she WANTS to go back to her old life. In the end, she makes a decision...

Touching stuff.

32. "Wedding Daze" (Superman #62)

The villainous Mister Z and Superman have both lost their memories and have been lost to the world. They end up on an island cut off from the rest of the world where Superman becomes engaged to the daughter of one of the local chieftains. Lois Lane, Emil Hamilton and Guardian fly around the world trying to find the missing Superman and when they see the problem in Superman #62 (by Dan Jurgens and Brett Breeding), Lois Lane sure as heck is not going to let her fiancee get married to some other lady!

Jurgens really did a great job writing Lois as almost like a force of nature at times.

31. "From Krypton With Love" (Superman: 80-Page Giant #2)

In the late 1990s, there was a storyline where Superman was under the control of the evil Dominus and he did some bad things like, well, try to take over the world (to protect it). He was cured of his Dominus influence, but as you might imagine, the world was not exactly a fan of him at this point. Lois Lane has a hard time with that, which she explains in this excellent short story, "From Krypton With Love" by Mark Millar and Sean Phillips from Superman: 80 Page Giant #2. She tells the nominal reader (really, herself, since she knows she won't publish this story. It's like a journal) about how she liked Clark/Superman because he could keep up with HER. And since she can't just make the public like Superman again, she helps out in the smallest (but important) ways to make people realize how good Superman is...

Just delightful. You really should seek out the whole story. It's great.
