You all voted, now here, as part of our celebration of Lois Lane and Superman's 80th Anniversary, are the results of what you chose as the 40 Greatest Lois Lane Stories!

Enjoy!

3. "She's a Wonder!" (Wonder Woman #170)

Joe Kelly gets to do a follow-up, of sorts, to his classic "A Thousand Nights..." story from Action Comics #762 when he joined Phil Jimenez on this one-off issue of Jimenez's Wonder Woman run (inks by Andy Lanning) that has Lois Lane spend a day with Wonder Woman for a story.

Getting to see Lois in her element is really wonderful to see. She's so beautifully sarcastic. And, in the end, though, the two women have to come to terms with their relationship with each other when they each have such an important role in the life of Superman...

Really effective stuff with typical stunning Jimenez artwork.

2. "Superman's Forbidden Room"/"Sweet Dreams, Superwoman..." (All Star Superman #2-3)

There really isn't an overall story name for this two-parter by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. The concept of All Star Superman is that Morrison got to re-visit classic aspects of Superman's life in comics, just with his own particular spin on things (with the usual stunning Frank Quitely artwork).

Issue #2 has Superman take Lois Lane to the Fortress of Solitude, which serves as a riff on two types of old Superman stories. The visits to the Fortress and also Lois thinking that Superman must have turned evil. In the Silver Age, everyone was willing to believe the greatest heroes were evil on the drop of a hat. However, as it turned out, Superman wasn't hiding an ill intent, he was hiding a serum that would give Lois Superman's powers for a day!

The next issue is a riff on the "Lois gets powers" stories and also "Other superpowered heroes fighting Superman for Lois' attention," with Samson and Hercules showing up in the future to fight Superman for Lois' affection, and since it is her birthday, she sort of leans into it. It turns out that they are using her for bait to get Superman's help, but in the end, when he saves the day, they still insist on him besting them, which he does and then he and Lois spend some time on the moon...

One of the most famous kisses in superhero history.

1. "Story of the Century" (Man of Steel #2)

Your top pick for Lois stories was her introduction into the world of Superman in John Byrne's Man of Steel reboot. Byrne based his Lois Lane on Margot Kidder and you can really see that in the determination and sheer spunk that Lois demonstrates when she gets her big interview with Superman...

She then arrives at the Daily Planet to see that Clark Kent has already scooped her!

This defined the Post-Crisis Lois Lane and the Post-Crisis Lois Lane has probably been much better to the character, comic book wise, than the Pre-Crisis version, so it is only natural that this get the pick for the top spot on the countdown!

Thanks for voting, everyone! Hope you enjoyed the countdown! I'll probably put up a master list over the weekend.
