Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain have been out of Metropolis for almost 20 years, but both actors would return in a heartbeat. In fact, according to Hatcher, Warner Bros. has even discussed the idea of a Lois & Clark reboot.

At a New York Comic Con panel celebrating the 25th anniversary of their show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, the co-stars were asked if they would be open to revisiting the world they once inhabited together. A fan even suggested that with all of the alternate timelines floating around the Arrowverse, it could be the perfect opportunity to have a current DC hero pop into their old world.

“If I could have my Lois Lane, I’d do it in a minute,” Cain said. Hatcher quickly responded, “You can have me!”

Hatcher also mentioned that, through the years, there have been whispers of a reboot. She’s even gotten as far as talking to people at Warner Bros. about it, but explained that it’s a complicated sell because the studio already has plans laid out for all of its superheroes, from how many films they’ll be in and what age they’ll be for those movies. Cain joked that the complications in the DC Extended Universe must be “why Marvel is kicking their butts these days.” As the audience “oooh’ed,” Cain asked two simple questions: “Are the DC movies better than the MCU? Or is MCU better than DC?" When the audience cheered for the second option, he added, "My point has been made.”

The duo also addressed the question of where they think Lois and Clark are now, and what a revival of the show might look like today. Cain went for the lighthearted route, envisioning the couple with some Kryptonian/human kids who are in their teenage years, since both he and Hatcher have children in that age range in real life. He figures that Lois is serving as the mayor of Metropolis, while Clark is still pushing papers and trying to land stories.

Hatcher, on the other hand, sees a darker landscape for the pair. In her vision, she had the idea that Lois and Clark had a child, but it didn’t necessarily go as planned. “What if the way it worked was the kid would start to have the powers, and Superman would not have the powers because they couldn’t both have them at the same time,” she posited. She went further, imagining that as the child became a teenager, he would have started making bad decisions, triggering Clark to find a way to get his powers back. She also imagined that Clark’s lack of powers had put a strain on their relationship, and at a certain point, the couple would have to figure out if they should stay together.

Cain made several skeptical faces as Hatcher talked about her dark vision, clearly indicating he couldn’t picture a world where their show lost its optimism, something he mentioned was one of his favorite things about their Superman. In any case, it’s clear that the stars would be just as excited about a revival as the fans would be.
