The first half of Spy x Family's first season has ended, but the shows producers are already giving fans a preview of what to expect when the series returns next October.

The first trailer for the popular espionage comedy's second part introduces a new antagonist to the series, Keith Kepler, a far-right terrorist who wants to instigate an all-out war between Westalis and Ostania, which is obviously a threat to Twilight's mission, which has the ultimate goal of maintaining the tenuous peace between the two nations. Hiroki Takahashi, who previously starred in the HUNTER x HUNTER and Prince of Tennis anime, will join the show's cast in the role of the dangerous extremist. Plenty of action is teased as well, as Yor Forger is also shown fighting in an alleyway while Loid draws his pistol against an unseen assailant. The next 12 episodes of the series are scheduled to begin airing in Japan sometime this October.

The trailer was revealed immediately after the conclusion of the first part of the series, which aired on June 25. The show has been one of the breakout hits of the spring 2022 season, becoming a hit with both professional critics and regular viewers alike. The anime is being produced as a collaboration between Wit Studio, the animation company behind hits such as the first three season of Attack on Titan and 2021's acclaimed Ranking of Kings, and CloverWorks, the studio behind Wonder Egg Priority and the winter season's biggest suprise hit, My Dress-Up Darling.

The anime is based on the manga of the same name, which was created by writer and artist Tatsuya Endo in 2019. The manga was originally released as an exclusive for Shonen Jump+, the digital manga spinoff of Shueisha's hit-making Shonen Jump magazine. The series has become one of the most popular franchises to come out of the service, with over 21 million copies in circulation around the world. Endo's manga has already been nominated for two Eisner Awards; first in 2021, where it ultimately lost to Junji Ito's Remina, and again in 2022.
