With less than seven weeks until the premiere of "Logan," Hugh Jackman's one last time on screen as Wolverine, the promotional effort is beginning to quicken its pace, no doubt building to the arrival of the final trailer. On the heels of the release of the official synopsis and a brief preview of the musical score, director James Mangold has debuted three new images of the film's key players.
Although the stark photos aren't particularly revealing, they certainly underscore that "Logan" won't look like any other "X-Men" movie -- or, heck, any other superhero movie -- to date. The shots are refreshingly unvarnished, lacking the slickness of the film's franchise brethren. Here, Stewart's Professor X doesn't look like the most powerful mind in the world who's able to rally disparate mutants behind his cause; he's a frail old man clinging to what's left of his life.
Jackman’s ninth, and purportedly final, appearance as Wolverine, “Logan” is set in the near future, years after the epilogue of 2014’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” In it, a weary Logan, whose healing factor is failing, cares for an ailing Professor Xavier in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, pursued by dark forces.
Opening March 3, “Logan” star Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
