Comic book artist Gabriel Rodriguez, co-creator of IDW Publishing's Locke & Key, has teased the appearance of brand-new keys in the upcoming second season of the comic's Netflix adaptation.On Twitter, Locke & Key showrunner Meredith Averill commented, "I don't know when we're going back into production but I do know days where I get to Zoom with [Gabriel Rodriguez] about the design of new keys make me very, very happy." Rodriguez then quote-tweeted Averill, adding, "Dear [Meredith], you guys are the best, and I'm honored to be invited to cook some awesome surprises for viewers waiting for [Locke & Key Season 2]."RELATED: Netflix's Locke & Key Renewed for a Second Season

Written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Rodriguez, Locke & Key was first published by IDW in 2008. The comic follows the Locke siblings, who -- alongside their mother -- return to their ancestral home of Keyhouse following the murder of their father. Netflix's live-action television adaptation of the series dropped its first season earlier this year in February.

Streaming now on Netflix, Locke & Key Season 1 stars Darby Stanchfield as Nina Locke, Jackson Robert Scott as Bode Locke, Connor Jessup as Tyler Locke, Emilia Jones as Kinsey Locke, Bill Heck as Rendell Locke, Laysla De Oliveira as Dodge, Thomas Mitchell Barnet as Sam Lesser, Griffin Gluck as Gabe and Coby Bird as Rufus Whedon. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
