No, this isn't a dream. IDW Publishing's horror comic book series Locke & Key will cross over with DC Comics' Sandman Universe this October. In a promotional video shared across various social media platforms, IDW officially announced Locke & Key: Hell & Gone -- a Sandman Universe crossover event co-published by DC. The crossover comes from Locke & Key's usual creative team of writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez. "If you think you can unlock the gates of Hell and just invite yourself in, you must be dreaming," IDW's post reads.RELATED: DC's Sandman Creates His Own Worst Enemy in The Dreaming: Waking HoursThe video reveals a cover for Hell & Gone, which pays tribute to that of 2008's Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft #1. The key (no pun intended) difference, however, is that the cover features the key to Hell, as made famous by Neil Gaiman and Mike Dringenberg's 1990 Sandman story arc "Season of Mists."

Launching with the "Welcome to Lovecraft" arc in 2008, Hill and Rodriguez's Locke & Key follows the Locke siblings, as well as their mother -- who return to their ancestral home of Keyhouse following the murder of their father. The comic book has since been adapted into a Netflix series, which dropped its 10-episode first season earlier this month.

Meanwhile, published under DC Comics' Black Label -- previously DC Vertigo -- the Sandman Universe was launched in 2018 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gaiman's original Sandman comic book series for Vertigo Comics (which is also headed for a Netflix adaptation). The imprint features various titles, with each series featuring a different creative team and being overseen by Gaiman himself. Notably, Hill currently curates a horror-themed DC Black Label imprint of his very own: Hill House Comics.

Written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key: Hell & Gone launches this October from IDW Publishing and DC Comics.
