Disney+ celebrated the beginning of production on its upcoming reboot of the popular sitcom Lizzie McGuire by posting an image from the set.In the image Hilary Duff's Lizzie McGuire can be seen holding a plush alpaca while walking in an area covered in soap suds. "Alpaca your bags! #LizzieMcGuire, an original series coming soon to #DisneyPlus, is heading to the Big Apple for the next chapter in Lizzie’s story. Created by Terri Minsky, Lizzie McGuire originally premiered on the Disney Channel on January 12, 2001. The show ran for two seasons with 65 episodes until it ended on February 14, 2004. There was also a film based on the show called The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which premiered on May 2, 2003.

Other stars of the original series included Lalaine (Miranda Isabella Sanchez), Adam Lamberg (David Zephyr "Gordo" Gordon) and Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire).

The reboot was announced at Disney's D23 Expo held earlier this year. Minsky was reported to be returning as the showrunner. She has served as a writer on many series, including Sex in the City, The Geena Davis Show and Less Than Perfect. 

Hilary Duff will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire in the Disney+ series. There is no word on if anyone else from the original series will be joining the reboot. No official premiere date has been announced.
