The latest issue of Kodansha's "Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine" has debuted 15 new images from the two-movie adaptation of "Attack on Titan."

Directed by Shinji Higuchi, under the supervision of manga creator Hajime Isayama, the first film, titled simply "Attack on Titan," opens Aug. 1 in Japan, and the second, “Attack on Titan: End of the World,” arrives Sept. 19.

Anime News Network points out that one of the stills (the first seen below) showcases actor Hiroki Hasegawa as Shikishima, "humanity's strongest man," one of the new characters created for the film.

Debuting in 2009, “Attack on Titan” is a post-apocalyptic fantasy set in a world where remorseless, flesh-eating giants have all but wiped out humanity, whose remnants are forced to live within a country surrounded by three enormous walls. The story initially centers on Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and their childhood friend Armin Alert, who join the military to fight the Titans after their hometown is attacked and Eren’s mother eaten.
