The trade publications have the story, and now so do you -- Aerosmith scion and actress Liv Tyler has been hired to play the role of Betty Ross opposite Ed Norton in the "reboot" version of "Incredible Hulk." Louis Leterrier is directing the Marvel Studios movie, which is slated to begin in the summer in Toronto.
"Liv is not only a classic Hollywood beauty, but an undeniable talent. Her roles in such blockbusters as 'The Lord of the Rings' and indie favorites like 'Stealing Beauty' have helped her develop a unique blend of dramatic and action-adventure experience that are perfectly suited for taking on Betty Ross," said Kevin Feige, President of Production, Marvel Studios. "We believe the chemistry between her and Edward Norton will explode on screen, adding another compelling dimension to the film."
Norton and Tyler replace actors Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly, who played the roles of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross in the 2003 film, directed by Ang Lee. That film was not very well received by the critical and fan community, which led Leterrier to be quoted on French television as saying this was not a sequel, implying a reboot was in order along the lines of Thomas Jane's "Punisher" (moving away from Dolph Lundgren's performance) and Tim Story's "Fantastic Four" (which is a departure from the convention circuit favorite directed by Roger Corman).
