Near the end of Phantom Blood, Jonathan and Erina leave for the U.S. aboard a ship. Thinking he's successfully put the past behind him, Jonathan tries to celebrate his honeymoon with Erina. However, unbeknownst to him, Dio is aboard the same ship.

The ship erupts into chaos as the passengers turn into zombies. During the frenzy, a young couple with a baby is struck down by the zombies. The abandoned baby is none other than a young Lisa Lisa.

Erina's honeymoon turns into a nightmare when zombies attack the ship. As the disruption unfolds, Jonathan learns that Dio is still alive. Jonathan fights Dio and is critically injured trying to defeat him.

Stricken with the fear and heartache that she is about to lose Jonathan, Erina declares that she will die along with him. Jonathan, however, notices an abandoned baby and tells Erina to save the baby and live. Erina listens to Joseph and miraculously escapes the burning ship with baby Lisa Lisa.

8 She Is Raised & Taught Hamon By Straizo

Having lost her biological parents, Lisa Lisa is adopted by Straizo, a friend of the late Jonathan Joestar. Straizo is Tonpetty's successor and a master of Hamon. He raises Lisa Lisa and teaches her the art of Hamon until she is eighteen.

Like Straizo, Lisa Lisa possesses a scarf made out of yarn from the Satiporoja beetle. The scarf is a 100% conductor of Hamon and Lisa Lisa uses it as her primary method of fighting.

7 She Marries Erina's Son

At the time Erina saves baby Lisa Lisa, she is pregnant with Jonathan Joestar's child. She gives birth to the child and names him George II, after Jonathan's father.

Erina stays close with Straizo and Speedwagon, as both aided Jonathan in defeating Dio. Lisa Lisa obviously grows up knowing George her whole life, and eventually marries him. The two have one child together.

6 She's The Guardian Of The Red Stone Of Aja

The Red Stone of Aja is a large red stone that, according to Lisa Lisa, is the only way to defeat the Pillar Men. The Pillar Men seek the Red Stone of Aja to complete their stone masks. Once the stone is inserted into the mask, the Pillar Men can become ultimate beings, able to walk in the sunlight.

Straizo entrusts the Red Stone of Aja to Lisa Lisa on her 18th birthday. In doing so, Lisa Lisa becomes the guardian of the stone, protecting it from falling into the wrong hands.

5 Lisa Lisa Is Not Her Real Name

Lisa Lisa is an alias to protect her true identity. Her real name is Elizabeth Joestar. Elizabeth goes into hiding after murdering her husband's killer and turning them to ash.

After George's death, Lisa Lisa uncovers that his superior is actually one of Dio's zombies. She kills him and then flees to Europe. The Speedwagon Foundation helps Elizabeth to disappear and erase her existence completely.

4 She's Caesar's Master

After their run-in with the Pillar Men, Joseph and Caesar travel to Venice to seek out Caesar's master. Joseph has to face Wamuu in a one-on-one battle in order to gain the antidote to the poisonous ring placed inside him.

However, Joseph has never formally trained his Hamon and isn't strong enough to take on Wamuu. Caesar takes Joseph to his master Lisa Lisa, who ends up training both Caesar and Joseph to improve their Hamon abilities.

3 she maintains a youthful appearance thanks to Hamon

Hamon is an energy produced by trained breathing. If trained properly, a Hamon user can produce ripples of energy throughout their body that is equivalent to the positive energy of the sun.

Hamon also grants users vitality and energy, making the user look younger than they actually are. Even though Lisa Lisa is 50, she maintains a youthful appearance because of her superior grasp of Hamon and its principles.

2 She's Joseph's Mom

Joseph lives his life believing that both his parents died. He was told by his grandmother Erina that his dad died in the war and that his mom died shortly after. When Joseph meets Lisa Lisa in Battle Tendency, Joseph does not know that she is actually his mother.

After Joseph essentially returns from the dead, he learns the truth about Lisa Lisa's identity. She tells him that she is actually his mother. The reason the truth was kept from him for so many years was that Lisa Lisa did not want Joseph involved with Hamon or Dio.

Despite Straizo's grasp of Hamon, there are limits to its ability to keep a user looking young forever. During his old age, Straizo becomes obsessed with looking younger. He seeks out the stone mask and transforms himself into a vampire to obtain the youthful look and vitality of Dio.

In doing so he also sets out to destroy the Joestars. During a battle with Joseph, Straizo is hit with Hamon, then punched in the face sending him flying over a bridge. Joseph saves him, but Straizo releases the Hamon stored inside him and self-destructs.
