Disney unleashed several new pictures from The Lion King, the upcoming live-action re-creation of the 1994 Disney animated classic that offer a better idea of how the film will look.

The gallery includes seven new images, six of which are stills from the film that highlight the clarity of the images and the detail of the animation that show the technological magic that has gone into the film.

Characters such as Rafiki, Pumbaa, Simba, and even the villainous Scar look as if they were plucked from the savanna, not rendered on a computer. Even the iconic Pride Rock would not look out of place in a nature documentary.

The final image is a behind-the-scenes shot showing Donald Glover, who voices adult Simba in the film, speaking with with director Jon Favreau,  during a vocal recording session, showing the personal attention that Favreau gave to actors working on the film.

With less than three months until the release of The Lion King, these new images provide some of the first major new information since the release of the official trailer on April 10th. The stills from the film show the beauty and intricacy of the characters and locations, and provide eye-catching tidbits to tide fans over until the film's release.

Opening July 19, director Jon Favreau's The Lion King stars Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Florence Kasumba, Eric André, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary, Shahadi Wright Joseph, with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones.
