Disney has released a series of new character posters for the upcoming Lion King.

A remake of the animated Disney classic, Lion King centers around the young lion cub Simba, who is the prince of the animal kingdom. The film features an eclectic cast of various animals, some of whom serve under Simba's father Mufasa. Others, like Mufasa's brother Scar, aim to steal the throne away from him.

The new posters showcase the main characters, a collection of stunning CGI-animated animals. The character shots reiterate how the film is attempting to look lifelike, with each character reconstructed to appear as realistic as possible.

The posters also highlight the star-studded cast of the film, which only retains James Earl Jones from the original animated movie. The film reportedly isn't intended to be a shot-for-shot remake of the original film, but will instead attempt to bring the original story to life for a new generation of fans.
