The Simpsons' annual Halloween special, "Treehouse of Horror," will delight fans of two franchises, as there will be a crossover with Bob's Burgers in the episode.

John Roberts, Linda Belcher's voice actor, revealed on Twitter that his character would appear in the upcoming Halloween special. The tweet read: "Linda Belcher will be on The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXXIII 🎃 🎈 🍷" According to the official synopsis, the episode, which will air on Oct. 30, features a book theme. "In a book-themed trilogy, Marge's resentment takes monstrous form, Lisa tries to save the planet through murder and Homer learns he's not the man he thought he was." The three segments are allegedly titled "Lisanime," "Simsonsworld," and "The Pookadook." "Lisanime" is a parody of the anime Death Note, while "Simpsonsworld" is a nod to Westworld. Fittingly, "Pookadook" will parody the 2014 film The Babadook.

"Treehouse of Horror," also referred to as The Simpsons Halloween Specials, is an annual Halloween-themed episode consisting of three self-contained segments -- except for Treehouse of Horror XXXII, composed of five segments. The first special episode aired in 1990, and to date, there have been 32 episodes in the "Treehouse of Horror" series. Each episode parodies popular or well-known productions from science fiction, fantasy or horror. In the past, The Simpsons parodied The Amityville Horror, Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist in previous "Treehouse of Horrors" specials. These episodes take place outside the show's regular continuity, and due to the horror, science fiction and supernatural themes, there is less effort put into being "realistic."

Like The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers releases holiday-specific episodes, and Halloween is no exception. However, despite Bob's Burgers' fun pun-filled titles that occasionally make pop culture references, unlike The Simpsons, they don't heavily parody popular media in their specials. For example, previous Halloween-themed episodes include "Pig Trouble in Little Tina," "Teen-a Witch" and "The Wolf of Wharf Street." While the titles imply they are nods to iconic films Big Trouble in Little China, Teen Witch, and The Wolf of Wall Street, the references only go as far as the title. Season 10's "Pig Trouble in Little Tina" is about the Belcher family's oldest daughter, Tina, feeling disturbed after dissecting a pig in class only to find herself under the threat of being haunted by the fetal pig. The episode includes a nod to Nightmare on Elm Street, but that isn't the story's focal point.

At the time of writing, there is no further news on whether other members of the Belcher family will make an appearance in the Halloween special. It's also unclear which of the three segments Linda Belcher will appear in, although her unbridled enthusiasm for holidays will likely make an interesting contribution to the latest installation of "The Treehouse of Horror."

The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror XXXIII Halloween episode will air on Oct. 30.
