Lincoln Adds Jackie Earle Haley

Stephen Spielberg has two movies coming out this year -- two movies coming out this December, in fact -- but he's moving right ahead with his planned follow-up, Lincoln. The biopic focusing on the life our 16th president will star Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, alongside a cast that includes Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Another actor joins that illustrious lineup today, with Deadline bringing word that Jackie Earle Haley is in as well.

He'll play Alexander Stephens, the vice president of the Confederate States during the Civil War. The role of Confederate president Jefferson Davis remains uncast, although Stephens is notable for being a key opponent to Lincoln's anti-slavery stance. Production on the Spielberg flick should be starting this fall, with DreamWorks planning a late 2012 release.
