Disney Channel is kicking off its inaugural "Duck Week" with Lin-Manuel Miranda's DuckTales debut as Gizmoduck (Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera) on Friday, May 11.
“Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!" will see Launchpad recruit Fenton after he's menaced by tech genius Mark Beaks’ newest invention.
“I’m really excited that a new generation of kids will be growing up with DuckTales,” Miranda said in a press release. “As a huge fan of the original series, I love that I can share this new version with my sons.”
Miranda's Gizmoduck is described as "Duckburg’s preeminent hero who has Latin roots," reimaged by executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer and story editor Francisco Angones.
Announced in February 2015, the new series returns to television the beloved animated action-adventure that was an integral part of weekday afternoons between 1987 and 1990, and inspired the 1990 theatrical release DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp.
DuckTales will begin airing daily on Disney Channel starting Tuesday, May 1 with new episodes every Friday in May. New episodes and shorts will air throughout the summer on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel YouTube.
