Levi Ackerman is known as the strongest section commander in the Scout Regiment. His fighting abilities when battling a Titan are unmatched. His calm and cynical demeanor makes him a suave and entertaining character to watch. As the series went on, there were signs that Levi had certain abilities that no one else appeared to have.
The more time went on, the more it became apparent that his special abilities were linked to his lineage. Though it seemed as if the mystery of Levi’s family's history came together in the later seasons, there were signs throughout the series that hinted at Levi’s true identity.
10 Levi & Mikasa Share A Family Resemblance
Levi and Mikasa have an uncanny resemblance. They both have the same dark black hair and face shape, their facial features are similar as well. To make their resemblance even more apparent, they both wear their hair the same way, an ear-length short cut parted in the middle.
When Levi showed up to save Armin and Eren, Armin looked up and called Mikasa's name assuming it was her. Levi then turned around revealing it was actually him, shocking Armin.
9 Like Mikasa, Ackerman Levi Has A Calm & Quiet Personality
Mikasa and Levi share the same calm demeanor. They don’t express too much emotion when interacting with others. On the rare occasions that they do express themselves, it is in regard to their comrades. In fact, they are most passionate when they are fighting Titans.
The more they use their swords and maneuver with their ODM gear, the more fired up they get. Their personality traits are so similar, it makes sense that they would be related.
8 Levi's Incredible Speed & Fighting Skills Mirror The Powers Mikasa Has
Mikasa is a point of reference for figuring out who Levi is. Like Levi, Mikasa shows exceptional fighting skills when out in the field. They are both incredibly fast and strong. Levi's signature spin move can take down any Titan.
Whenever they engage in battle, their comrades feel more at ease whenever they’re around. Mikasa and Levi are recognized as the strongest members of the scouts. When it comes to fighting, Levi and Mikasa are only comparable to each other.
7 Levi Is Fearless On The Battlefield
For some reason, neither Levi nor Mikasa is afraid when they engage in battle. They seem to be unfazed by the giant man-eating monsters that terrorize their home. While most of the other scouts fight with fear in their eyes, Levi and Mikasa fight with confidence and fearlessness.
Again as it is known that Mikasa is an Ackerman, the more Levi displays the same traits that she has, the more apparent it becomes that he is an Akerman as well.
6 He's Familiar With The Underground World
Right before Levi‘s last name is revealed, he encounters Kenny. Kenny and his team are trying to kidnap Eren. It is instantly made apparent that Kenny and Levi are familiar with each other. When they share a quick exchange of words it is understood that Kenny isn’t an honest citizen and mainly deals with criminal work.
Mikasa was almost sold to the underground city, and it now seems that Levi is familiar with this area as well. This connection illustrates that their families may have dealings in the same location.
5 His Last Name Isn't Revealed For Most Of The Series
The fact that Levi’s last name is never said is peculiar. He is mainly referred to as Captain Levi or simply by 'Captain' by his squad. He’s called by his first name by Erwin and Zoe. The more viewers start to pay attention to Levi, and wonder about his origin, the easier it becomes to assign him to the Ackerman family.
By this point, fans have noticed that he looks like Mikasa, acts the same way she does, and has the same incredible strength and speed. Naturally, it would make sense to assume they came from the same family tree.
4 He & Mikasa Make A Good Team
Whenever executing a battle strategy, most of the Scout teams are taken down pretty easily with only a few individuals from each formation surviving. It’s always a devastating loss and each Scout does the best they can to outmaneuver a Titan. Unfortunately, there isn't much they can do when a 10 to 20-foot Titan uses their ginormous limbs to grab and crush them.
However, whenever Levi and Mikasa are fighting side-by-side, there is never any doubt that they will make it out alive and damage several Titans along the way. They are both incredibly fast and don't necessarily have to worry about protecting each other. Before Levi's last name was revealed, whenever they were in the field together they looked like a family unit.
3 Levi & Mikasa Emit The Same Flashes Of Light When They Fight
Knowing now that members of the Ackerman family have a special surge of power that they awaken, it was obvious from the start that Levi had the same power. Whenever Levi fought, flashes of blue light were seen surrounding him.
He also sometimes has thin lines of red light that show up across his eyes when he is fighting titans at warp speed. The only other person fans have seen display these flashes of light is Mikasa.
2 He Managed To Save Eren Twice With An Injury
Levi's incredible fighting abilities also include a certain level of durability that others don’t have. As Mikasa was able to illustrate, Ackermans have the ability to continue to fight even after becoming injured went in the heat of the moment.
Though after their adrenaline subsides, they do eventually take note of their injuries, it’s still miraculous that they are able to continue fighting under those circumstances. Levi showed that he had the same ability when he was able to save Eren from the Female Titan twice even after hurting his ankle.
1 He's Basically Eren's Bodyguard
In the final season, Eren pointed out that Ackermans have an innate responsibility to protect their Eldian king. Mikasa has always loved Eren and showed her dedication by fighting for him whenever he needed her. She never wanted to leave his side and held a deep hatred for anyone that tried to hurt him. While Levi’s approach was less romantic, his dedication to Eren was the same.
This hint might be a little harder to spot as Levi seemed to have little patience for everyone around him, especially Eren at times. However, he did whatever he had to do to keep Eren safe. After it was revealed that Eren was a Titan, he formulated a plan to trick the court into allowing Eren to be released into his custody. He oversaw all of his training, made sure he was his squad commander, stood up for him against his own comrades making sure they gave him a chance to prove that he was their ally.
