A fifth Lethal Weapon movie is in the works. According to It: Chapter Two producer Dan Lin, the "last" Lethal Weapon film is in development, with original stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover attached.
"I'm going to knock on wood, because I don't want to jinx myself, but we're trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie, and Dick Donner's coming back," Lin told The Hollywood Reporter. "The original cast is coming back, and it's just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel [Gibson] and Danny [Glover] are ready to go, so it's about the script."
Debuting in 1987, the hit franchise starred Mel Gibson as volatile LAPD narcotics cop Martin Riggs. Struggling after the death of his wife, he is transferred to the homicide division, where he's partnered with the aging Sgt. Roger Murtaugh, played by Danny Glover. Produced for $15 million, Lethal Weapon grossed more than $120 million worldwide and spawned three sequels.
The fifth Lethal Weapon movie does not yet have a release date. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are expected to return as Martin Riggs and Sgt. Roger Murtaugh, respectively. The film is still in early stages, so further details about it are unknown at this time.
