Les Misérables and Showtime's Homeland led the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards, presented Sunday in Beverly Hill, California, with three trophies each, but Ben Affleck was the evening's big winner. Well, Ben Affleck and hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Affleck, who was passed over Thursday for an Academy Award nomination, walked away last night with the prize for best director for the political thriller Argo, which also won for best motion picture-drama.

Homeland was honored for best television drama, lead actress (Claire Danes) and lead actor (Damian Lewis), while Les Misérables won for best motion picture-musical or comedy, lead actor (Hugh Jackman) and supporting actress (Anne Hathaway). HBO's Girls took home two prizes, one for best television-musical or comedy and another for best actress in a comedy for Lena Dunham, who beat out hosts Fey and Poehler, among others.

While the duo pretended to be bitter over their defeat -- "Well, the show is really taken a turn," a "drunken" Poehler slurred. "Everybody's getting a little loose now that we're all losers." -- they were widely regarded as high points of the telecast. The only downside may have been that Fey and Poehler weren't on camera nearly enough. (Vulture has put together a video compilation of their best bits.)
