As principal photography on DC Universe's Swamp Thing series continues in North Carolina, Leonardo Nam has been cast in a recurring role for the first season.

Nam, who previously appeared in HBO's Westworld, has been cast as Harlan Edwards, a gay specialist working for the Center for Disease Control directly under Crystal Reed's Abby Arcane.

The upcoming DC Universe original series follows Abby after she's sent to investigate a mysterious new virus in the Louisiana bayou only to discover the swamp is full of supernatural secrets and dangers that defy conventional explanation.

Nam's character is an entirely new creation with no clear analogue from the comic book source material. Given the mature, horror-tinged tone of the series, his professional association with Abby may prove to be his undoing as they venture into the swamplands.
