According to TMZ, Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame has been hospitalized due to severe chest pains.
After a 911 call, Nimoy was rushed to the hospital. The actor was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) last year, which he blames on smoking despite having quit 30 years prior. He has had several hospital visits since, including a trip to UCLA Medical Center last week.
Nimoy originated the role of Vulcan star fleet member Spock on Star Trek: The Original Series and continued it in the six Trek motion pictures that followed. He also appeared in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness as Spock Prime opposite new Spock actor Zachary Quinto.
