With its debut now just a few weeks away, Netflix has unleashed a new promo and a batch of new photos from their upcoming television series "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events." The eight-episode series is based on the popular series of children's novels and will star Patrick Warburton as Snicket and Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf. Warburton hosts the new "Unfortunate Events" promo, urging viewers to look away from the disturbing and frightful scenes contained within it.
The new photos also give an overview of the show's cast, which includes a nearly unrecognizable Harris as Olaf and Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss. Malina Weissman, who previously played young Kara on "Supergirl" young April in 2014's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, gets a character of her own in Violet Baudelaire. She's pictured alongside her siblings, played by Louis Hynes and Presley Smith.
In the meta-narrative of the tale, the book series is written and narrated by the fictional Lemony Snicket (Warburton) and follows the adventures, trials and tribulations of orphans Violet (Weissman), Klaus (Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire (Smith) as they try to uncover the secret of their parents’ deaths. The series was first announced back in June 2015.
Starring Warburton, Harris, Cusack, Weissman, Hynes, Smith, Aasif Mandvi, Catherine O'Hara, Don Johnson, Alfre Woodard, and more, “A Series of Unfortunate Events” Season 1 will debut January 13, 2017 on Netflix.
