Lemony Snicket is back! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix and author Daniel Handler, who wrote a series of kids books under the Snicket pseudonym, have joined forces to adapt the adventures of Violet, Klaus and Sunny as a live-action series.

The 13-book series follows the misadventures of the recently orphaned Baudelaire children as their creepy Uncle Olaf chases them around trying to steal their inheritance.

Jim Carrey, Jude Law, Meryl Streep, Catherine O'Hara and Billy Connolly starred in a 2004 film adaptation called Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Paramount Pictures, which released the film, will produce the series through its Paramount Television arm. Handler will serve as executive producer.

“I can’t believe it,” Snicket said in a statement. "After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books."
