With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, fans will be able to explore all the iconic planets from each movie trilogy to their heart's content.

Among the many new details revealed during The Skywalker Saga's gameplay overview trailer was a closer look at how gamers will access its myriad levels. While players originally start off with the first entry of each movie trilogy (i.e. The Phantom MenaceA New Hope, or The Force Awakens) and unlock subsequent episodes as they play through the game, fans will eventually see themselves "progressively unlocking planets" over time. Visiting these worlds will require the use of a "Holoprojector," which, when activated, provides a blue display of various color-coded worlds from all nine mainline films. Notable examples include Tatooine, Dagobah, Bespin and Hoth from the original trilogy while Geonosis, Kashyyyk, Kamino, and Mustafar represent the prequel movies. Enthusiasts of the sequel trilogy can venture to Jakku, Ahch-To, and Exegol amongst many others.

Traveling via Holoprojector will take place in one of many "legendary vehicles," complete with animations of the spaceships jumping in and out of hyperspace and descending onto the planet's surface. Furthermore, players will be able to participate in space-based minigames in orbit before they decide to disembark. The trailer describes some of these minigames as "exhilarating dogfights" against Imperial Star Destroyers, as well as missions that involve hunting down targets in ships like the Millennium Falcon, an X-Wing, or bounty hunter Boba Fett's gunship.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's new trailer finally confirmed that the long-awaited video game will drop on April 5 after several major delays and reports about its release date. In addition to its vehicular travel, the footage revealed combat upgrades like the ability to combo light and heavy attacks, take cover during shootouts and explore levels through multiple routes. This will mark the first LEGO Star Wars title from developer TT Games since 2016's LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens which was released a few months after its film counterpart.

In addition to The Skywalker Saga, Lucasfilm is also working on Star Wars Eclipse, a game that takes place in the franchise's High Republic era currently being told across multiple forms of media. However, the game may only release sometime in 2026 or 2027, due in large part to reported production troubles from developer Quantic Dream. A sequel to 2019's acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could also be revealed during this year's Star Wars Celebration.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases April 5 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
