LEGO has officially unveiled the LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure, a massive 5:1 upscaled version of the company's instantly-recognizable minifigure -- which was first introduced back in 1978.

Inspired by the original wooden toys made by LEGO creator Ole Kirk Kristiansen, the LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure is carved out of FSC-certified oak. the posable figure features adjustable plastic hands (much like today's standard LEGO minifigures) and measures 7 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3 inches deep (considerably larger than today's standard minifigures).

The figure comes in a premium gift box with 29 additional LEGO pieces and a 28-page leaflet. The leaflet offers a history of the LEGO minifigure, the development of the new upscaled wooden version, examples of how LEGO creatives have personalised their models, not to mention instructions on how to to build five different models with the 29 LEGO elements provided.

Those who purchase the figure are also encouraged to customize it as they please and show off their creative vision on social media using the #LEGOOriginals hashtag.
