A new video teases a sequel to the game LEGO Dimensions may be announced soon.LEGO posted a short video to Twitter featuring a LEGO brick and an upcoming announcement date. The brick itself is transparent, but the four studs each glow a distinct color: yellow, magenta, cyan and orange, respectively. "Big announcement coming soon," the caption read. “It's ON!" The video ends with the date June 26, 2021.RELATED: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Has Been Delayed Again

A Twitter user theorized about the colored studs, saying, "yellow/cyan/magenta were the colours used to denote moving the figures to another part of the base which was a big part of LEGO Dimensions, and the series 2 bases were orange." The LEGO Twitter account responded, "Stay tuned for more info to be revealed soon." This prompted many fans to speculate that LEGO may be teasing LEGO Dimensions 2.

The original LEGO Dimensions was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U. It was a toys-to-life video game, similar to Disney Infinity or the Skylanders franchise, which used physical figures that could interact with the game. The game featured popular characters from multiple franchises, including Batman, Gandalf, the Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo, the Wicked Witch of the West and GLaDOS.

LEGO Dimensions was discontinued after two years of additional figure packs in October 2017. While no further copies of the game and no future expansion packs were developed, the game and all previously released compatible figures still work. Following its discontinuation, LEGO Dimensions joined a long list of canceled toys-to-life video games, such as Disney Infinity. Besides Skylanders, one of the most prominent ongoing toys-to-life series is Nintendo's Amiibo, which recently announced a Zelda & Loftwing figurine, which will be compatible with the upcoming remaster The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.

While the four colors in LEGO's most recent tease are very specific, LEGO's upcoming "Everything is Awesome" set will feature every color of the rainbow. The rainbow flag-themed set is scheduled to release on the first of next month to celebrate Pride Month. While the set is meant to celebrate LGBTQ+ builders, many fans expressed skepticism about whether the profits would support LGBTQ+ charities and questioned the set's unexplained adults-only rating.
