The Legion of Super-Heroes is one of the oldest groups of superheroes in comics having first appeared all the way back in 1958’s Adventure Comics #247. The group even predates the Justice League, which means, it’s had more than its fair share of members over the years.

Like other superheroes and teams within the DC Universe, the Legion of Super-Heroes has gone through its fair share of shakeups and reboots, but in every manifestation, the team was full of powerful heroes. While most of the superheroes in DC are powered up, these members of the Legion are the most powerful.

10 DREAM GIRL

LoSH Quiz Dream Girl

On first glance, Nura Nal, otherwise known as Dream Girl, doesn’t appear powerful, but that’s kind of the point. Her looks are disarming, but underneath her platinum blonde exterior beats the heart of a warrior, and her abilities make her one of the more powerful members of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Dream Girl has the ability to see into the future via her dreams. With a precognitive sense of what’s going to happen, she can use her brilliant scientific mind to employ her home planet’s Naltorian science and technology to save people, stop catastrophes, and generally be an amazing hero. She has also been able to see a few seconds into the future, which helps her counter an enemy’s moves.

9 SENSOR GIRL

Projectra Wind’zzor is a princess on the planet Orando, and since joining the team, she has called herself Princess Projecta, and finally Sensor Girl, which is the name she’s held since joining up with the Legion in 1966. Sensor Girl’s powers enable her to cast realistic illusions and remote sensing, which means it possible for her to completely confuse and distract an opponent. She is also incredibly fast and can take on most characters in hand-to-hand combat. She’s even gone on to lead the team back before it was rebooted post-Zero Hour.

8 ULTRA BOY

LoSH Quiz Ultra Boy

Ultra Boy, otherwise known as Jo Nah got his powers after he was swallowed by a space whale of all things with his name being comparable to the biblical figure, Jonah. Despite his odd origin, Ultra Boy is one of the more powerful members of Legion, but he does have a weakness, which keeps him from jumping a spot or two on this list.

Ultra Boy possesses many of the same powers as Superboy including superhuman speed, strength, flight, and invulnerability. The only problem with his powers is that he can only use one at a time. So long as he budgets what he’s doing while he’s doing it, he hits pretty hard.

7 ATOM GIRL

Lightning Lass and Shrinking Violet

Salu Digby has been called many things during her time in the DC Universe, but most know her as either Shrinking Violet or Atom Girl. She is native to the planet Imsk, and like everyone who is a member of her species, she has the ability to shrink from normal size to atomic.

That’s not the only aspect of her shrinking power though, she can stop at any size she wants to between atomic and normal. This ability has made it possible for her to get into pretty much anywhere, and throw in her status as the best hand-to-hand combatant in the group, she turns into a significant power in the group.

6 LIGHTNING LAD

LoSH Quiz Lightning Lad

Lightning Lad, otherwise known as Garty Ranzz, and occasionally as Live Wire hails from the planet Winath, and he has powers you could probably guess from his name. Lightning Lad can manipulate energy, which he usually manifests in the form of blue electricity and lightning bolts he can use to shock and disable enemies to great effect.

His powers aren’t limited to simply zapping people though, he can manipulate energy and generate it as well. He also possesses some limited weather controlling powers and can move at superhuman speeds thanks to his ability to channel electricity throughout his body, which supercharges it.

5 MON-EL

MON-EL good justice league members

Mon-El is from the planet Daxam, which was one of the planets that orbited the same star as Krypton. The planet was originally settled by Kryptonian colonists, but evolved separately over a long period of time. Due to his origin, he, and any member of his species who finds themselves in the light of a yellow sun have superhuman abilities somewhat similar to those of a Kryptonian.

Like Superman, he has superhuman strength, invulnerability, super speed, he can fly, has heat vision and freeze breath, and can use extrasensory powers like x-ray vision. Unlike Superman, he has an aversion to lead in the same way Kryptonians can’t stand being around Kryptonite.

4 SUPERBOY

Chameleon Boy, Saturn Girl, Superboy, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy stand together

Superboy was always closely associated with the Legion of Super-Heroes, and in the early days, most of the stories featuring the group had Superboy either travel to the 30th century, or Legion members dropped in on the 20th. In terms of power, he’s easily one of the most powerful of the group.

The original Superboy was simply a teenage Superman, which meant he had all of Superman’s canonical abilities up to that point in his life. Being that most of this was during the Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths period, he was far stronger and more powerful than later incarnations of Superboy.

3 COSMIC BOY/POLESTAR

Cosmic Boy

Cosmic Boy, whose real name is Rokk Krinn, was one of the founding members of the Legion, and also the group’s original leader. He possesses the ability to manipulate magnetism, much like Magneto, but far more developed. He comes from the planet Braal and is a natural born leader.

His magnetic manipulation abilities enable him to repel, attract, and wholly manipulate objects containing any form of metal. He has shown an ability to pull large satellites down from orbit, and he can magnetize objects to make them stick to other similar objects. His abilities are used both offensively and defensively, but his ability to lead is one of his greatest strengths.

2 BRAINIAC 5

There are numerous versions of the character Brainiac with the one from the 30th century known as Brainiac 5. His real name is Querl Dox, and he comes from the planet Colu, and he was a descendent of Brainiac 2, the one, which was cloned from the very first Brainiac.

In terms of power, Brainiac 5’s doesn’t lie in his superior strength or speed since he doesn’t have those powers. Everything that makes him powerful comes from his mind thanks to having twelfth-level intelligence. He has a level of genius, which is incomparable to anything on Earth, which is considered to be a sixth level intellect in its entirety.

1 SATURN GIRL

Saturn Girl, whose real name is Imra Ardeen, comes from Titan, the largest moon orbiting Saturn. As a Titanian, she has a natural telepathic ability, though hers is the strongest of her species. Because of her telepathic abilities, she can read people’s thoughts and even control them.

There is little defense to Saturn Girl’s attacks, which make her the most powerful member of the team. In one instance, she defeated both Ultra Boy and Mon-El simply by looking at them, which rendered both men unconscious. Basically, she’s Professor X from the X-Men, but being the most powerful telepath in the DC Universe, she’s significantly more powerful than Xavier.
