Sir Patrick Stewart first stepped into the role of Professor Charles Xavier for 2000's X-Men. The beloved actor has since been closely associated with the role and gone on to appear in many of the franchise's films. There have long been hopes that the actor would appear on FX's Legion, and series star Dan Stevens has now addressed the chances of those desires coming to fruition.

Stevens talked to ComicBook.com at the TCAs about the possibility of Stewart appearing. "I keep pitching it to him, and he seems game. But yeah you have to ask [producer] Lauren Shuler Donner, really, it's not my job," Stevens said ComicBook.com. "But there is definitely some, I don't know if I can say."

Stevens then went on to talk a bit about how Xavier would play into the season. "We definitely catch a glimpse of Charles Xavier in this season," he said. "And yeah it's great to sort of bring that into play. If this is the question I get asked the second most I think, after where can I get [Shadow King actor] Navid Negahban's sunglasses from Season 2, is will we see Charles Xavier. And yeah, I can answer the second one, I can't tell you where the sunglasses come from. But yeah, he will be making an appearance. Which is great."

As it stands, Game of Thrones actor Harry Lloyd will play Legion's Charles Xavier. His incarnation of the character will have hair, and his role will likely revolve around his battles with the Shadow King. However, Stevens' comments here do leave open the possibility that a slightly more aged Professor Xavier, played by Stewart, could appear on the show.
