DC's Legends of Tomorrow returned for its fourth season as the lowest-rated, and least-watched, show on Monday primetime television.

The episode, "The Virgin Gary," earned a 0.3 rating/1 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, and attracted 1.01 million total viewers. That represents a series low for the cult-favorite show.

Arrow, which kicked off The CW's scheduled at 8 p.m., maintained the 0.4 rating from last week's season premiere, and averaged 1.2 million viewers.

Legends of Tomorrow's premiere sent the time-traveling Waverider crew after a bloodthirsty unicorn, and planted the seeds for the fan-favorite John Constantine (Matt Ryan) joining full-time.

Although The CW's so-called Arrowverse dramas typically experience a significant ratings boost from the annual crossover, Legends of Tomorrow will be sitting out "Elseworlds," which will introduce Ruby Rose as Batwoman. But showrunner Phil Klemner explained he was happy not to be involved, as there are only 16 episodes in Season 4. Instead, the week of the "Elseworlds" event in December, Legends will effectively crossover with itself in an episode that features characters from alternate timelines.

Airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford.
