WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Swan Thong," the DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 finale.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will have to start Season 6 without their beloved Captain Sara Lance.

In "Swan Thong," the Season 5 finale, the team said goodbye to Charlie in true punk rock fashion. Dressed in their finest punk wear, they attended a performance from her band The Smell, where they imbibed freely to enjoy their latest success. However, as they were leaving, Sara was ripped away without their notice.

After a group hug, Charlie returned to the club. Sara looked on with a hint of sadness, even as the rest of the team turned and began to walk away. While her teammates celebrated with cries of "Vacation!", Sara heard a strange noise that caused her to stop in her tracks. Suddenly, a bright blue light enveloped her, and she began to rise up off the ground. As she kicked and fought, she was sucked up into the sky and disappeared in a flash of blue light.

Given the circumstances, Sara appears to have been abducted by aliens. This certainly wouldn't have been the first time she's had a close encounter; after all, she was very much a part of the "Invasion!" crossover, which saw the Arrowverse deal with a telepathic species known as the Dominators. Plus, thanks to "Crisis on Infinite Earths," Earth-1 has merged with Supergirl's world, forming Earth-Prime; since Supergirl has always been rife with aliens, this is now a part of the Legends' world and may factor into the upcoming season.

Of course, since no one actually witnessed her abduction, the Legends will have something of a mystery on their hands. Although they dealt with aliens in "Invasion!", their actual experience with extraterrestrial life is fairly limited, so they probably won't suspect aliens at first. Further, seeing as Sara has been in charge for some time now, they'll have to regroup and reorganize the team to start the search. They shouldn't be too worried about Sara, though; she has more than proven she can take care of herself, no matter how great the challenge.

Returning to The CW in 2021, DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan and Jes Macallan.
