SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Necromancing the Stone," the latest episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

As they made a desperate bid to end Mallus' hold on Sara, DC's Legends of Tomorrow discovered another totem-bearer in their midst: Mick "Heatwave" Rory. Though he couldn't stop Mallus on his own, Rory was able to wield the Fire Totem against the demon.

At the beginning of the episode, Sara found herself drawn to the Death Totem -- only to find out too late that Mallus was behind it. When she touched the Death Totem, she freed Mallus and enabled him to use her body as a vessel. Possessed by Mallus, Sara mowed down her fellow Legends one by one, starting with Ray Palmer.

When conventional methods proved ineffective, Vixen realized they would need to use another totem to overcome the Death Totem. So far as totems went, they only had two options: Earth and Fire. Vixen sent Nate after the Earth Totem, while she accompanied Rory to the lab to see if Ray had repaired the Fire Totem before Sara knocked him out. Both teams successfully found their respective totems, but only one worked. Nate was unable to wield the Earth Totem after an honest effort, while Rory successfully bonded with the Fire Totem despite his reluctance.

As Vixen pointed out, Rory's ability to wield the Fire Totem makes sense. Rory is known for his love of fire, and flashbacks have shown that he has been a pyromaniac since youth. As a member of the Legends, he has used a Heat Gun as his weapon of choice. Considering that, becoming the bearer of the Fire Totem is a natural evolution for the character.

Airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom, Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe/Vixen, Nick Zano as Nate Heywood/Steel and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash.
