SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Egg MacGuffin," the latest episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Neron just claimed another victim, and it had nothing to do with possession. In "Egg MacGuffin," the latest episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Gary Green betrayed the team and joined Neron in his quest to build an army of magical creatures.

As Ray struggled to fight off Neron's possession, Gary quickly ascertained what was wrong. He realized Ray was possessed and that Neron needed to kill someone Ray loved with Ray's hand in order to take over. Ray tried to reassure Gary that Neron wouldn't kill him, with Gary quickly realizing Ray didn't care about him the way he does for the Legends. This realization crushed Gary, and Neron seized the opportunity to lay into that hopelessness and loneliness.

"No one appreciates you," Neron told Gary. "They all think you're a fool that they can use whenever it's convenient for them. But I respect you, and I see your potential. A demon can't reneg on the deals they make, so you can believe me when I say I can make you whole again."

Since Ray didn't love Gary, Neron found a new victim: Nate. As the possession spread, Neron beat Nate within an inch of his life. Ray finally gave in, telling Neron he'd give himself over willingly if Nate was spared. Neron agreed and took total control of Ray's body.

A deal is a deal to a demon, so Neron spared Nate. The fear demon then waited for Constantine to return to the Waverider to gloat, but Constantine fought back. Eventually, Constantine was able to trap Neron, but he couldn't hold the spell for long. Struggling, Constantine asked Gary for help exorcising Neron. When Gary hesitated, Constantine spat, "Dammit, Gary! Now is not the time for you to be standing around like some hapless idiot!"

"Demands a lot from you, doesn't he, Gary?" Neron interjected. "I, on the other hand, brought you a gift." With that, a little box appeared on the table -- a box containing Gary's nipple, which had been bitten off and brought to hell when Constantine used him for unicorn bait. The piece of flesh fell out of the box and crawled towards Gary, who stared transfixed despite Constantine's insistence it was cursed.

Gary picked it up and relived his time with Legends through a series of flashbacks in which they berated him. "I'm tired of being a doormat," he choked, and accepted Neron's gift. This distracted Constantine long enough for Neron to break free and knock Constantine out. Gary fished the Time Stone out of Constantine's pocket and used it to escape the Waverider with Neron.

Of course, this is a monster of the Legends' own making. By treating Gary so poorly, they more or less pushed him towards Neron. Neron -- who uses fear as his primary weapon -- was easily able to manipulate Gary's anxiety by using their own words against them. Hopefully, the Legends will be able to show Gary how much they appreciate him and win him back before the Season 4 finale.
