Legends of Tomorrow Cast Teases Hank's Own 'Back to the Future' Adventure

Biff is finally getting his shot at time travel. In "Tender is the Nate," the next episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Back to the Future star Tom Wilson will bring his character Hank Heywood aboard the Waverider to see just how the team does their job. During a set visit, the Legends cast revealed their dynamic with Hank, teased the impact of "Project Hades" and more.

"Sara hates Hank, because Hank also is like big boxing her girlfriend and is not very nice to Ava," explained Caity Lotz, who plays Waverider captain Sara Lance. "And I think Ava follows the rules and the hierarchy, and Sara does not care about that."

As to Hank's nefarious "Project Hades" plans, she added, "It starts to be uncovered, and at first, we don’t really know what’s going on, and things feel kind of conspiracy theory and then the team has to do some diving, which is also where Mona’s character comes in a lot. She’s got some information, so it’s kind of hard for her to get to the bottom of it, and we have to figure out what’s really going on."

"There definitely is a tension between Hank and Ava constantly because she's always trying to please him, right?" Ava actor Jes Macallan shared. "He's the head money guy and she's just trying to do what's right and taking her job very seriously. There is a bit of blindness on her side of just, 'We have one task' and she can be a bit that way which is interesting to play and discover. But she's very hyper focused on the one thing and sometimes emotion gets shut down because of that. The Hank thing gets very muddy for Ava and the Legends and what that all means because she has tunnel vision with these magical creatures, containing them, as you will."

Like Sara, Tala Ashe's Zari will also be very suspicious of Hank. "I think she's wary of the Time Bureau and, as time goes on, she's going to be one of the people who's kind of suspicious of the shady things that may be happening there and she's very much willing to go and try to figure out what's going on there," Ashe said. "She's always going to, I think, rub up against authority on a certain level. Yeah, who knows what those guys are up to? Maybe not good things."

"I mean, Mick butts heads with everyone, but Tom's an interesting addition to Nate's character and Tom was awesome on the show," shared Dominic Purcell, who plays Mick "Heatwave" Rory. "It was great having him and there's some incredibly funny stuff. We had one scene where we were all in a caravan and shit went down. It was just adlib city and just laughs all day long."

Airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford.
