WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Swan Thong," the DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 finale.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow brought back Courtney Ford for the Encores' final bow.

In "Swan Thong," the Season 5 finale, the Greek Fate Lachesis brought the Encores back to life and sent them to battle the Legends. Her latest handful of evil spirits was comprised of mostly new historical figures, like Joseph Stalin and Vlad the Impaler, but Ford's Marie Antoinette and her outrageous French accent made a return as well.

The fight saw Antionette take on both Mick and Astra. Fortunately for them, her severed head was still a little loose. So, when she went to strangle Astra, Nate was able to knock it clean off by throwing an energy drink at her. "Ah! Not again," she sighed. This successfully neutralized the threat, as her body spent the rest of the fight wandering around aimlessly.

Antionette is not Ford's only character on the show, of course. She also played Nora Darhk, the daughter of Damien Darhk, who was raised as a dark sorceress under her father's command. She eventually turned a new leaf and joined the Legends. She also fell in love with and married Ray Palmer, as played by her real-life husband Brandon Routh.

Both Ford and Routh exited the series earlier this season in "Romeo v Juliet: Dawn of Justness," which was considered a controversial move by fans. Neither actor chose to leave; it was a decision made by the showrunners and writers of the series.

"So the reason was that the storyline had run its course and there was nothing left to write for Ray and they really wanted him to get the girl. You know, it didn't work out with Felicity. It didn't work out with his original fiancee. It didn't work out with Kendra. They wanted him to walk off into the sunset with Nora," Ford told CBR in March.

When asked if she would return to the series, she added, "That's such a funny question! We were happy where we were and we want to do what's best for the show and they said that that's what they really wanted us to -- that was their quote, you know? 'Walk off into the sunset.' So we did, and now it's like, 'But would you come back?' and it's like, 'Wait! What are you talking about?' We just left, but 'Will you come back?' It's like, 'Oh, my God!' You know, kind of emotional whiplash. It's just a funny question to be asked, when we were two people that really wanted to be there. We really loved and cared about doing the best job we could every single day. I don't know! It's a weird thing and a weird feeling." Nevertheless, she put in a brief final performance for the Season 5 finale.

Returning to The CW in 2021, DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan and Jes Macallan.
