UPDATE: Purcell has since removed his Instagram post, as well as a follow-up explaining that it was a joke aimed at news outlets. He noted that, while he is exiting the series as a regular cast member, he will continue to appear in Legends of Tomorrow periodically.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell, who plays Mick Rory, also known as Heatwave, has announced that he is quitting the show.

He wrote on Instagram, "Deal isn't done. I have no interest. What ever cash they throw on the corporate level. I'm walking away from [Legends of Tomorrow]. It's been a total pleasure and a humbling experience bringing [DC Comics's] iconic character [Heatwave] (aka) MICK RORY to life."

While no details were provided regarding the circumstances of his decision, Purcell went on to write, "The studio does not care. The actors work ethic and talent must give them the confidence to question authority. ....Much love to all. It's not lost on me how very fortunate I am."

Based on the comic book supervillain of the same name, Heatwave made his Arrowverse debut in The Flash in 2014, parterning with Captain Cold, played by former Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller, before both of them became part of the titular Legends of Tomorrow team.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez and Raffi Barsoumian. Season 6 premieres Sunday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
