Actor Dominic Purcell seemingly revealed on social media that he would be exiting the role of Heatwave on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, at the same time criticizing the studio for their attitudes.

He has now explained that the entire online affair was a publicity stunt, clarifying that while he is leaving the show as a regular, he will continue to make periodic appearances as Heatwave, also known as Mick Rory. Both the original post and its follow-up have been removed. Purcell's latest post acknowledges the publicity stunt and teases similar posts to come. He wrote, "Let's see how much [press] and [CW's Legends of Tomorrow] can get tomorrow. Me and MICK been such naughty boys."

Purcell's original post read, "Deal isn't done. I have no interest. What ever cash they throw on the corporate level. I'm walking away from [Legends of Tomorrow]. It's been a total pleasure and a humbling experience bringing [DC Comics's] iconic character [Heatwave] (aka) MICK RORY to life." Warner Bros. Television has not yet issued a response.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Olivia Swann, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Shayan Sobhian, Lisseth Chavez and Raffi Barsoumian. Season 6 premieres Sunday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
