Legends of Tomorrow: Legion Has Reprogrammed [SPOILER] in New Promo

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” are going to have to rescue Rip Hunter from himself. In a new promo for “Raiders of the Lost Art,” the mid-season premiere, Rip just can’t wrap his head around the fact that he’s not actually a graduate film student named Phil.

As it turns out, the Legion of Doom has thoroughly scrambled Rip’s brain, so much so that he’s been reprogrammed with a new identity. Now, the Legends are going to have to convince him of who he is and restore his true identity, but Phil isn’t going to go peacefully.

The Legion of Doom used the Spear of Destiny was used to turn Rip Hunter — a Brit from the 22nd century — into an American film student in the year 1967. However, the aberration caused by this change drew the Legends straight to him, and now they’ll do whatever they can to get their Rip Hunter back — but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy. Phil isn’t so much impressed by the appearance of the Waverider as he is terrified, as evidenced by the fact that the sight of it makes him faint on the spot.

According to the episode’s official synopsis,

LOST MEMORIES — When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to “time drift” and is just a graduate film student.

After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team.
