When last we left "Legends of Tomorrow," a recalibrated Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) came face to face with George Washington himself -- and it didn't end well. In the previous episode, the Legion of Doom -- who are just as evil as their nickname implies -- finally found a copy of the thoroughly amnesiac Rip Hunter's memories. But the villains didn't think it would be enough to just give the ex-Legend his memories back.
"Of course when they upload Rip's intelligence and his memories, they decide, 'Why would we want just plain old Rip? Let's evil-fy him," explains "Legends" showrunner Phil Klemmer in a new inside look at the CW series' next episode. The Legion of Doom makes Rip so evil that upon arriving in 1776, he strides up to George Washington -- and shoots him in the face.
"Our team is headed back to the American Revolution in 1776, Valley Forge because there's been this crazy time aberration," explained Klemmer, initially underselling the craziness of Washington getting shot in the face. The inside look then shows Hunter handing out futuristic weaponry to Revolutionary War soldiers. This can't end well.
The new footage shown in the Inside Look reveals that the Legends themselves know they're heading into a trap, but what choice do they have? After all, the Legion of Doom has created a massive aberration that could lead to the total erasure of America from history. As Klemmer says in the inside look, "What could be more splashy than shooting George Washington in the face?" You can check out the entire quick featurette below, as well as the synopsis for the "Turncoat" episode.
