While the future of DC's Legends of Tomorrow looks bright, the eclectic Arrowverse series' fifth season will feature the departure of longtime cast members Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford.

Speaking with CBR, Routh and Ford's costar Caity Lotz commented on their departure and their final day on set while hinting that Routh may return in some capacity in the series' future.

"It was really sad! We didn't want Brandon to leave. But there was lots of cake and, you know, celebrating the time together," Lotz said. "Brandon and Courtney are going on to do great things. And on these shows, once you're gone, you're never actually fully gone."

Debuting in Arrow Season 3 as scientist-turned-superhero Ray Palmer, Routh appeared as an original cast member on Legends. Routh's real-life wife Ford joined the cast in Season 3 as Nora Darhk, the reformed daughter of recurring Arrowverse villain Damien Darhk.
