After helming the final season of Arrow and the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover, Marc Guggenheim was struck with fatigue. But from that exhaustion, a new opportunity was apparently born.

Guggenheim was a guest on the Fake Nerd podcast, where he revealed that he directed an episode of Legends of Tomorrowwhich he helped develop and currently serves as supervising producer. Guggenheim revealed that his fellow producer and DCTV head honcho Greg Berlanti nudged him into directing, "It was about a year ago, last January, when we were talking and I was experiencing what I would describe as a creative malaise."

"I was feeling just a little bit at sea, in terms of what the next steps were going to be for me, and he said that 'You should do something that terrifies you.'" He continued, "And I said, 'Yes! But that's, you know, directing' -- that's beyond terrifying to me. But it was his idea."

He also admits that directing was "scary" and "terrific" and chose an episode that was far away from Crisis.  "It was great to exercise some different muscles and work some different parts of my brain, and I just had the best time. They gave me a really fun episode."

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, episodes of Legends and The Flash have been pulled from the schedule; audiences will have to wait to see what episode Guggenheim directed and when it will air.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan, and Courtney Ford. The show airs Tuesdays at 9/8 central on the CW.
