Legendary's The Great Wall Gets Prequel Comic


Ahead of "The Great Wall's" release in theaters in February 2017, audiences will get the chance to learn more about the film's backstory by way of a new prequel graphic novel, released by Legendary Comics. The hardcover collection features a new story by writer Arvid Nelson and artist Gian Fernando, as well as a cover from legendary artist Whilce Portacio.

Set 60 years before the events of "The Great Wall," the prequel OGN -- titled "The Last Survivor" -- tells the story of young Bao as he joins the Nameless Order and strives to protect Ancient China from ferocious monsters and cunning enemies.


The "Last Survivor" is the latest in a line of feature film prequel graphic novels published by Legendary Comics. Previous publications include lead-ins to "Warcraft" and "Pacific Rim."

The film stars The largest film ever shot entirely in China, it stars Damon as a mercenary imprisoned within the Great Wall who discovers the mystery behind one of the great wonders of the world. As wave after wave of marauding beasts besiege the massive structure, his quest for fortune turns into a journey toward heroism as he joins a huge army of elite warriors to confront this unimaginable and seemingly unstoppable force.

Directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau, “The Great Wall” arrives Feb. 17, 2017, from Legendary Pictures.
