Legendary Pictures wants to make video game movies the next comic book movies. It makes sense considering the video-game industry continues to churn out original properties that Hollywood has not yet tackled well. One of Legendary's planned adaptations includes Mass Effect, based on the three-game series from BioWare and Electronic Arts.

Variety reports that Morgan Davis Foehl is being brought in to take a crack at the script originally penned by Mark Protosevich (Thor, Oldboy). Known as an assistant editor in the business, Foehl's scripts have landed him on the Black List as well as a gig writing the adaptation of Top Cow's Crosshairs.

The first Mass Effect game followed the adventures of Commander Shepard and the crew of the U.S.S. Normandy as they travel the Galaxy in 2183. Their mission in that first game, released in 2007, involves tracking down a rogue agent known as Saren Arterius who commits treason by assisting the mechanical invading aliens called the geth. The third game dropped on March 6 and has already made more than $200 million.
