Ribon will write the screenplay and executive produce with Alex Hertzberg. Joe Nozemack, James Lucas Jones and Charlie Chu of Oni Entertainment will team with them to co-executive produce. Handling production duties at Legendary will be Jon Silk and Ali Mendes.

My Boyfriend Is a Bear is about Nora, who finds true love with a flannel-wearing 500-pound black bear after a succession of bad relationships. However, their love is put to the test by hipsters, friends who don't understand and the bear's hibernation cycle.

Legendary found success producing big-budget adaptations for Warner Bros. and Universal. The studio's credits include Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, 2014's Godzilla, Pacific Rim, Pacific Rim: Uprising and the Jurassic World movies.

Named one of Variety's 10 Screenwriters to watch, Pamela Ribon is an accomplished and award-winning screenwriter responsible for The Smurfs: the Lost Village and, unsurprisingly, the DisneyNature documentary Bears. Her next feature is the upcoming Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph, from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Her comic credits include her debut series SLAM! with Veronica Fish for BOOM! Studios. She's also written Oni Press's Rick and Morty comics.
