One creative gamer has transported Link from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda into the world of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077.

The funky image, which was posted on Reddit by artist Gray Shuko, combines the colorful, cartoonish tones of The Legend of Zelda with a gritty, sci-fi aesthetic. Hyrule's hero sports a riot shield, an energy pack and a technological sword and visor in place of his traditional fantasy armor.

Upon closer inspection, fans may be able to see that Link is actually wearing V's jacket which was largely seen in the promotional material for Cyberpunk 2077. A Triforce symbol can be spotted on the shoulder while Link's standard Breath of the Wild tunic is represented underneath.

Created by Takashi Tezuka and Shigeru Miyamoto, The Legend of Zelda is one of the most iconic and beloved video game franchises of all time. The overarching story centers on the many reincarnations of the titular Princess Zelda and Link as they fight against the demon king Ganon. The original game was released in 1986 while the most recent title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, debuted in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch. The highly anticipated sequel to 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is expected to launch sometime in 2022.

Released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing game set in the open world of Night City, directed by Adam Badowski. Players assume the role of V, a customizable mercenary, who is haunted by the ghost of rebellious rock icon Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) after a job surrounding a priceless biochip goes awry.

While the game received praise from critics for its graphics and setting, it also earned heavy criticism for its depiction of transgender characters and, most notably, its many, many bugs. The development team behind Cyberpunk 2077 have been working to fix the wealth of issues since its release and according to CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciński, "We believe that in the long run Cyberpunk 2077 will be perceived as a very good game, and like our other titles, it will sell for years – especially as the hardware gets more powerful over time and we improve the game."

There have been several other works of fanmade content recently made for both The Legend of Zelda and Cyberpunk 2077 beyond Gray Shuko's cyberpunk reimagining of Link. One artistic fan has drawn a stunning series of illustrations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. As for Cyberpunk 2007, a group of coders has created a mod that allows players to see their in-game character have sex with Johnny, much to the delight of Reeves.

Many of The Legend of Zelda games are available on Nintendo Switch while Cyberpunk 2077 is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Native versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are expected to launch in 2022.
