Throughout the Avatar series, both in The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, Team Avatar has had some great series finale moments. From Suki piloting Fire Nation airships to Aang's climactic battle with Phoenix King Ozai, it's expected that, even among the other protagonists in the show, Team Avatar will show off their strengths in battle.

This is the same for Korra's Team Avatar, which grows in the final episodes to include Lin, Suyin, and Tensin's family, giving the series final many chances to show off just how strong Korra's friends and family are.

10 Korra Encasing The Mecha In Ice

Korra waterbending the mecha in place

It's easy to forget that Korra is a native waterbender since she rarely uses it when fighting, preferring earth and firebending instead as they are more in line with her personality and spirituality. When it came to Kuvira's mecha, Korra had to pull out all the stops. She used her incredible waterbending abilities to encase most of the mecha inside a giant block of ice just long enough for Hiroshi to cut a hole in one of the legs, allowing Team Avatar access inside it.

9 Non-Violent Interrogation

Baatar Jr interrogated by Team Avatar

When trying to force information from Baatar Jr. on Kuvira's plans, it was looking as though someone was going to draw the short straw and have to resort to violence. Korra, however, chose a very different option with stellar results. Instead of threatening to hurt Baatar physically, she promised that, for as long as she was on the run from Kuvira, she would drag Baatar along for the ride, ensuring he would never see his fiance again. Needless to say, this, along with Kuvira almost killing him to get to Korra, worked a lot better in forcing Baatar to work for Team Avatar.

8 Bolin Saves The Team

Bolin earthbending a ceiling

During Kuvira's assault on Republic City, she searches high and low for Korra and Team Avatar to no avail. That changes when one of her soldiers is able to track Baatar's message back to the Future Industries building and wastes no time trying to destroy it along with everyone inside.

In one of his greatest moments of earthbending, Bolin saves everyone inside by bending the large chunk of earth over their heads to ensure no one was crushed by the debris. This was a feat that was only topped in the previous season when he discovers that he could lavabend.

7 Wu Steps Up

Prince Wu singing to a badgermole in Korra

Despite being shown to be incompetent so far, Prince Wu's attempts to be a good leader finally bear fruit when he steps up to evacuate the people of Republic City during Kuvira's attack. By singing to a couple of badger moles, he is able to win the monsters over and gain their assistance in helping the people he was sworn to protect. Not only that, but this one act changed every other leader's mind on how they saw the prince of Ba Sing Se.

6 Hiroshi's Sacrifice

Legend of Korra Asami ejected from a Hummingbird mech

One of the greatest moments in the finale, as well as one of the more heartbreaking, is Hiroshi's sacrifice to ensure Team Avatar could infiltrate the mecha and destroy the Spirit Cannon. After finally reconciling with Asami after his actions in Book 1, Hiroshi realized that the only chance they had to stop Kuvira was at the cost of his life and selflessly saved his daughter before being crushed by the arm of the mecha.

5 Lin & Suyin

Lin and Suyin Beifong inside the giant mecha Legend Of Korra

Finally putting aside their differences and problems they had in the past, Lin and Suyin were able to dismantle the Spirit Cannon from the inside. Although the scene itself is brief, it just shows what the Beifong sisters are capable of when they aren't at each other's throats. Their teamwork was instrumental in stopping Kuvira's mecha from completely destroying Republic City.

4 Mako Destroys The Mecha

Legend of Korra Mako bending lighting inside the generator room of the mecha

It may have been a group effort in infiltrating and disabling the mecha, but if it wasn't for Mako willing to put his life on the line, Kuvira's weapon would have likely not been destroyed as quickly as it was.

Mako has shown his skill with lightning in the past, but until this moment he apparently hadn't given it everything he had. The wind-up before he launches his attack on the spirit vines shows just how much power he can produce when given the right motivation.

3 Korra & Kuvira's Final Fight

Kuvira fighting off Korra inside the cockpit of the mecha

After climbing her way to the head of the mecha, Korra makes quick work of Kuvira's co-pilots and focuses all of her attention on the conqueror herself. Unlike their past battles, this was a very even match as Korra was able to hold her own and gain the upper hand against the bender who had merely toyed with her in the past. The battle stopped momentarily as the head of the mecha came crashing back down to earth. It started up again inside the spirit wilds but didn't last much longer after that.

2 Blocking The Spirit Canon

Korra bending the spirit cannons energy

Desperately fighting for her freedom, Kuvira escapes into the spirit wilds to avoid another direct confrontation with Korra. After spotting the Spirit Cannon, she makes one last attempt to take down the Avatar using her superweapon, only for it to start absorbing energy and spinning out of control. Showing her enemy what it means to be the Avatar, Korra jumps in front of Kuvira and blocks the cannon's blast with her energybending, creating an entirely new spirit portal in the process.

1 The Vacation

Korra and Asami prepare to enter the spirit portal

Although it's nowhere near as exciting as the rest of Book 4's finale, Korra and Asami's vacation into the spirit world was a great ending for the series, even if not many fans saw their coupling coming. After all of the trials Korra and Asami had gone through once the Avatar began calling Republic City home, they deserved some much-needed downtime from their respective duties, particularly in the wake of Hiroshi's death.
