Legacies Will Keep Laying Easter Eggs for a Vampire Diaries Character

Legacies is the second spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, with many of its young cast having ties to characters from the beloved vampire series. The spinoff returned to The CW for its sophomore season this week, with the premiere finding Josie and Lizzie Saltzman finally getting some answers regarding The Merge -- a ritual that sees siblings in the Gemini Coven forced to fight, with one sibling killing and stealing the magical powers of the other.

Josie forced her father to tell her what was so special about a mystic relic called an Ascendant. Though the conversation took place off-screen, Alaric confessed that it's a lock to a prison world, where their uncle Kai Parker, the only living member of their lunatic family, is trapped. Executive producer Julie Plec teased that there will be more Kai Parker Easter eggs as the series continues.

"It’s definitely not the last we’ve heard of him," Plec told TVLine. "We’ll keep laying little Kai Parker Easter eggs, because he is a massive part of the twins’ backstory and mythology, which is something we plan on telling stories from for the entire series. While I know we’ll never be able to get Chris Wood back for an entire series, it’s certainly fun to keep him alive in the hopes that we’ll get to see him in small doses over the course of the run of the show."

Kai Parker was played by Chris Wood on The Vampire Diaries from Season 6-8. He also appeared on Supergirl, another CW series, as Mon-El for Seasons 2-3.
