WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for "Hope is Not the Goal," the latest episode of Legacies.

The supernatural teenage drama Legacies and DC's slate of superhero series call The CW home, but there's never been a thought to them coexisting in the same universe. However, MG's run-in with a major Arrowverse villain may have confirmed the series are closer than anyone realized.

"Hope is Not the Goal" began with MG having a dream in his bedroom late at night. As he started to wake up, he's greeted to an oversized gorilla standing over him beating its chest and growling. Of course, this could be written off as just some random gorilla, but Legacies executive producer Julie Plec confirmed on Friday it was Gorilla Grodd, archnemesis to The Flash.

"We wanted MG to have a nightmare about a monster from the comic books he was reading, so we asked @GBerlanti and @TheDCUniverse if we could 'borrow' Grodd, Plec tweeted. "They were VERY gracious. The First TVDU-DCU crossover!"

As MG would go on to have a nightmare inside another nightmare (featuring Ghostface from Scream), his bedroom can be seen adorned with many nods to comic books. Various comic posters are shown hanging from the walls, and once he fully wakes up, a copy of DC Rebirth's The Flash #39 featuring Gorilla Grodd leaping at Barry Allen is prominently displayed on his bed.

MG's love of comics came in handy to solve the mystery of what supernatural creature killed Mystic Falls High's Dana. She was originally found dead in the woods by Alaric and Matt Donovan, but later came back to life with two puncture wounds on her neck. All signs pointed to Dana being bitten by a vampire, but she later puked her insides out to the point where all that was left was her skin.

It's here that MG was able to put the clues together to decipher what monster was really behind the mystery. After getting his hand caught on a stray spider web in a school bus, MG realized the "Monster of the Week" is a giant spider, like the ones from his comics.

MG's obsession with comics delivered the first ever crossover between The Vampire Diaries Universe and the DC Universe on Legacies. Perhaps next season the stakes will be raised even more and Legacies can take part in the annual Arrowverse crossover.

Airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as Milton Greasley/MG, Aria Shahghasemi as Landon Kirby, Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael Waithe and Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman.
