The CW shared new photos from Season 3, Episode 2 of Legacies, which is titled "Goodbyes Sure Do Suck."

The series of four photos show Alaric Saltzman, Headmaster at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, meeting with several students in his office and appearing to have some tough discussions.

In one image, a nervous-looking Alaric stands next to vampire Kaleb, while a second image shows Alaric standing in front of former Alpha Werewolf Jed, who has his hands on his hips. A third photo shows that Kaleb and Jed are joined in Alaric's office by vampire Milton and witch Lizzie Saltzman, the latter of whom happens to be Alaric's teen daughter.

It was previously revealed that "Goodbyes Sure Do Suck" will find the group of supernatural students having to "pull out all the stops" in reaction to some terrible news. The official synopsis for the episode reads:

FINDING PEACE -- The Super Squad pull out all the stops when they learn some devastating news involving one of their own. Alaric (Matthew Davis) turns to Sheriff Mac (Bianca Kajlich) for help getting some timely affairs in order. Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, Peyton Alex Smith, Chris Lee and Ben Levin also star. Eric Dean Seaton directed the episode written by Benjamin Raab & Deric A. Hughes (#302). Original airdate 1/28/2021.

Photos from the new episode were released on the same day The CW teased that a previously unseen musical episode, which was supposed to air during Season 2 of Legacies, will now air as part of Season 3. The episode -- aptly titled "Salvatore: The Musical!" -- will pay tribute to Legacies' predecessors The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Season 1 of Legacies also featured a musical episode, which was centered around a talent show being held at the Salvatore School.

Season 2 of Legacies ended somewhat abruptly after the final four episodes of the season were cut due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic shutdown. The unexpected finale ended on a major cliffhanger, with Hope Mikaelson stuck in a cursed sleep. The fate of Landon Kirby, a phoenix, was also unclear after he was struck with a golden arrow.

Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Quincy Fouse, Aria Shahghasemi, Peyton Alex Smith, Matt Davis and Chris Lee. Actors Ben Levin and Leo Howard have also been upped to regular cast members for Season 3. Season 3 of Legacies premieres on Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
