WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for "There's Always a Loophole," the Season 1 finale of The CW's Legacies.

Batman isn't the only person who knows how to neutralize his closest friends. The Season 1 finale of Legacies revealed Alaric, the headmaster of The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted, developed a contingency plan to prey on the weaknesses of his own supernatural students in order to defeat them. This strategy is the same one the Dark Knight implemented against the Justice League in the fan-favorite story arc, "Tower of Babel."

"There's Always a Loophole" saw the Triad organization attack The Salvatore School in order to find the third artifact for the Malivore. Part of the Triad's plan involved infiltrating the school through a previously unknown underground tunnel and planting a dark object to take away the students' mystical powers. Once Alaric arrived on campus, he turned the object off, allowing the students to go on the offensive and take back the school.

However, once the dust settled Alaric revealed to the assembled students that the reason Triad knew about the underground tunnel and the power-dampening object is that they were all developed by him as a contingency plan. He feared one day it would be the world that needed protecting from their abilities, rather than the other way around. So, part of his plan included sharing this contingency with concerned parents over the years, which is how MG's mother, who works for Triad, was able to get the group into the school.

Loyal DC fans will recall how this scenario is eerily similar to the secret files Batman kept that detailed how to take down every member of the Justice League in "Tower of Babel." Running through JLA #43-46, "Tower of Babel" saw Batman's files stolen by Ra's al Ghul, who used them to systematically defeat the Justice League.

"Tower of Babel" ended with the Justice League taking a vote on whether to expel Batman from the team. Instead of waiting for Superman to render his verdict as the tiebreaking vote, Batman decided to leave on his own accord, with the reason being he knew how the Man of Steel would cast his deciding vote. Alaric, on the other hand, left his fate up to the vote of the High Council of students on whether he should step down as headmaster.

However, with Hope sacrificing herself to stop the Malivore from returning, the High Council is now down to only four members. There is also the complication that since Hope dove into the Malivore, it erased the memory of her from everyone's minds. Fans will have to wait until next season to see what happens to Hope, and what Alaric's new status quo will be.

Airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Legacies stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman, Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as Milton Greasley/MG, Aria Shahghasemi as Landon Kirby, Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael Waithe and Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman.
