The CW network recently renewed 12 of its current television series for the 2021-2022 season.

"Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals," said Mark Pedowitz, The CW's Chairman and CEO. "[This] allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season."

On top of renewing the listed shows, The CW is reportedly developing new spinoff series for Nancy Drew and Riverdale. The network is also developing new Arrowverse series in the forms of the Black Lightning spinoff Painkiller, a Wonder Girl series featuring Yara Flor, the Brazilian Amazon, and a TV show based on Brian Michael Bendis' DC superhero Naomi.

Superman & Lois is the latest addition to The CWverse. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch are reprising their roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane for the series, having previously brought the pair to life on Supergirl and the "Elseworlds" and "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossovers. Superman & Lois will debut on Feb. 23 with an expanded 90-minute premiere and a half-hour special titled Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope.

The CW's announcement came on the eve of the Legacies' musical episode premiere, paying homage to two of the network's highly successful supernatural series The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Its synopsis reads,

THE SALVATORE SCHOOL PRESENTS “SALVATORE: THE MUSICAL” — The students prepare to put on a musical about the founding of the Salvatore School at the behest of their mysterious new guidance counselor. Meanwhile, as Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) throws himself into writing the musical and Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), Josie (Kaylee Bryant), Kaleb (Chris Lee) and Jed (Ben Levin) dive into their roles, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) distances herself from the musical. Jason Stone directed the episode written by Thomas Brandon (#303). Original airdate 2/4/2021.

"Salvatore: The Musical!" airs on The CW on Feb. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
